How to Find the Right Prom Dress for You

Finding the perfect Prom dress can be tricky. But if you know how to dress for your body type, finding the perfect dress becomes much easier! I was so lucky to work with these beautiful models and Z Couture to show some of latest Prom dress trends and silhouettes for 2017.

Here are some tips to finding the perfect dress for your body type:

(To find out where the dress is from, click on the picture)

If you are petite, try wearing a two piece dress. Not only would a two-piece accentuate your small figure, it would also elongate your torso, giving the effect of height. Both follow the traditional trend of a beaded bodice. On the right, the beige floral embroidered two piece follows the floral embroidery trend this season and adds beautiful accents to any dress.

If you are slender, try going for a more fitted dress. Find a dress that hugs your body and shows off your figure. The black beaded strapless neck with a sweetheart neckline and a leg slit is a part of the Scala Collection. The off the shoulder emerald green off the shoulder dress is a Spring 2017 Sherri Hill Dress. I am obsessed with the color of this dress. The jade beautifully complements her skin-tone and deep jewel tones offer a popping, chic twist to a prom dress. This beautiful dress also came in magenta and black.

If you are curvy, show off your figure with a mermaid dress. The blue dress featured on the left is a mermaid dress with an added belt to accentuate the smallest part of the waist. On the right is a Scala red sequined dress with a sweetheart neckline. A mermaid dress is the perfect way to accentuate your curves and balance out your proportions. While patterns and embellishments are very popular this year and offer a different approach to the classic style, a simply colored dress would streamline your look and appear thinner.

A great silhouette for any body type is a ballgown. Whether you’re tall, short, curvy, slender, a ball gown is flattering on all body types. The key to achieving the perfect ballgown for your body is in the alterations! A dress that is too long will look overbearing and a dress too short would appear ill-fitted.  A Sherri Hill  light pink ball gown with a plunging neckline is featured on the left. Light pink is a popular color this spring season, and I especially love the lace-work and pearl trim.  On the left, is also a sherri hill dress with a white plunging top and floral skirt  is featured. Floral patterns are going to be everywhere this season, and I love the way both dresses incorporate this trend.
